About the Program
What kinds of programs benefit from Metropolitan Energy Center?
Currently, residential and commercial property owners in Missouri could be eligible for several rebates. The Home Performance with Energy Star (HPwES) program provides up to $1200 in rebates through Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) and Missouri Gas Energy (MGE) towards an energy analysis and qualifying building improvements. EnergyWorks KC provides additional rebates for an energy analysis, building envelope improvements, and high efficiency air conditioners and furnaces.
Both programs are administered by the Metropolitan Energy Center (MEC), a non-profit organization committed to energy efficiency in Kansas and Missouri. Over the last several years, MEC has grown the local HPwES program from just a few auditors and less than ten participating homeowners in the Kansas City metropolitan area to over thirty contractors and over one hundred participants a month on average. The organization has had program administration roles in other energy efficiency programs including the Missouri Department of Natural Resources' (MoDNR) Energize Missouri Homes and Geothermal program and the Kansas City Kansas Board of Putlic Utilities (BPU) energy Smart Homes.
