Most homeowners would like to be more energy efficient, but it can sound like an overwhelming and costly endeavor. Where do you start? What areas of your home are energy-wasters? How much can you save by upgrading appliances, sealing cracks or adding insulation?

You're not alone and you don't have to find the answers all by yourself. The Metropolitan Energy Center is the metro's go-to resource for homeowners looking to save money, energy and time. We help knock down the barriers inhibiting many homeowners from becoming more energy efficient and we open the door to the many energy saving solutions available. Our goal is to improve people's lives and that starts with improving the comfort and health of your home affordably and easily. Whole home energy efficiency is attainable for all homeowners and we're here to guide you through the steps.

EnergyWorks KC is a current program available to Kansas City, MO residents developed through a grant from the Department of Energy and administered through the Metropolitan Energy Center. It provides all the tools and support you need to improve your environment, live more comfortably and save thousands of dollars in the process. EnergyWorks KC connects you to the many energy efficiency programs available for making home energy improvements. Our expert customer service representatives personally walk you through the numerous rebates and financing incentives linked to current energy initiatives and help you complete the paperwork. We'll make recommendations on projects large and small that can provide you the greatest payback now and down the road when it comes to reducing energy usage and saving on utility bills. The Metropolitan Energy Center has a list of certified energy efficiency experts and reputable contractors to assist you in completing EnergyWorks KC program requirements.

The cornerstone of EnergyWorks KC and most other energy efficiency initiatives is a comprehensive home energy analysis. It's the valuable first step that shows your home's system-wide energy performance. Conducted by a professional energy efficiency expert, the analysis looks at your home's air leaks, mechanical equipment performance and safety, insulation levels, and air quality. Your energy auditor provides a comprehensive assessment report detailing your home's problem areas, suggested fixes, costs to accomplish improvements, and the return on your investment as it pertains to energy savings. Recommendations can range from do-it-yourself projects like switching out light bulbs to upgrading air conditioning or heating systems to higher efficiency units. Consider it your customized roadmap to energy efficiency and improved home living.
